This symbiotic learning experience offers an introduction to the socio-economic realities of the country and a glimpse of Indian culture and tradition. Learners get an understanding of the local issues and challenges faced by social entrepreneurs in India.

Business students/enthusiasts can explore different organizations, interact with entrepreneurs and visit social and sustainable enterprises in India. This experience provides a powerful insight into the application of business theories and concepts in the real world and can be an add-on to your business school curriculum.

The Experience

Orientation:

    The orientation program offers basic familiarization with India, its rich cultural and traditional tapestry and an introduction to the socio-economic realities of India via an interactive session by an eminent speaker. The talk sets the tone of what can be expected in the next few days.

Hands-On Experience: Site Visits, Interactions, Interviews and Data Collection:

The hands on experiences are designed around organizations that are change makers in their communities creating significant social impact. The organizations below are illustrative of the kind of organizations that we partner with.

  • ‘The Bridge Foundation’ - deals with Micro Enterprise Development

  • ‘Sukrupa' - provides free education at a local slum area in Bangalore

  • 'Saahas' - deals with solid waste management.

  • Ashoka Foundation - supports youth entrepreneurship

  • Selco India - Social enterprise that provides sustainable energy solutions and services
  • Spot Taxi - A unique model that empowers taxi drivers to become taxi owners.

Culture: People, Food, Architecture, Art, Entertainment:

  • Heritage walk around colonial Bangalore, exploring the bygone British era, its old colonial building, parks and imposing institutions

  • Local cuisine at various restaurants, visit to historic temples and monuments

Reflection: Deriving powerful learning from the experience:

  • Using reflection tools such group discussions, AVK aids, guided visualization to enhance learning outcomes.
