Be the next Anna Hazare

This workshop provides you a chance to experience leadership as civil society activist. A day in the life of leaders like Medha Patkar and Anna Hazare who have devoted her life and work towards a cause they are passionate about. They have been able to generate the support of millions towards their cause and have spread awareness, garnered opinion and held the authorities accountable.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Advocacy: Thought to Action
  2. Communication: modes, methods and channel
  3. Creativity:  Making an impact, get yourself heard in a crowd effectively
  4. Event Planning: Managing a campaign successfully
  5. Promotion: Marketing an Idea
  6. Consensus Building: getting people to believe in your idea.

Program Activities

  • Identify a Cause – Choose a cause that you are passionate about and build a campaign.
  • Choose your Objective – Channelize the passion into different methods
  • Choose the Medium – Petition/Signature Campaign, Press, Agitation, Online Campaigns, Lobbying, Affirmative Action, Public Awareness Event or any others.
  • Strategy and Process – Using the cause, the objective and the mediums create concrete action steps that will further your cause.
  • RUN campaign – take action to the people
  • Define success – Document and present the efficacy of the campaign
  • Field Visit – Meet a Social Activist at their office
  • Reflection – ‘Ripples-in-the-pond’ – a reflection session on internalizing what we have learnt and a movie showcase day

The program is being organized at the Experience Lab situated at the office of Institute of Experiential Learning, Infantry Road Bangalore.
