The Experiential Learning Summer Lab on Film Making is designed to empower learners with conceptual understanding behind everyday technological wonders through hands-on experiences and interactions.
This program is designed for learners to experience the science principles behind movie technology that is today part of our everyday life, concluding with making and uploading their own YouTube short film.

Learning objectives:

   • Science: Connecting Science to everyday Life
   • Film Making: The Life Cycle
   • Technology: Principles behind the Video Camera
   • Creativity: A short video on You Tube.

Program Activities

  • ‘Camera Science’–Introduction to the program and context setting; Introduction to basic science principles behind cameras and filming, familiarization with equipment
  • ‘The Creative In Me’ – Creative communication tools and media expression
  • ‘Pre-Production Techniques ’ – Process of Film-Making, planning and pre-production process.
  • ‘Lights-Camera-Action’ – Execution through video production that involves directing, art-setup, shooting, photography, acting and lighting
  • ‘My Movie’- Short films on either of these topics will be created: Environment, Civic Awareness, Animals
  • ‘Field Visit’  – Hands on visit to amedia-school and a production house,interaction with media persons
  • Reflection – ‘Ripples-in-the-pond’ – a reflection session to internalize what we have learnt and a movie showcase day

The program can be facilitated by experientialists from the institute at schools, housing complexes, summer centers etc.

Participants will receive a Certificate from Institute of Experiential Learning.
