Walk in the footsteps of Jim Corbett and follow the elusive Tiger in the forests of Corbett National Park!

 

About the Campsite

Named after the hunter and conservationist Jim Corbett who played a key role in its establishment—is the oldest national park in India. The park was established in 1936 as Hailey National Park. Situated in Nainital district of Uttarakhand the park acts as a protected area for the critically endangered Bengal tiger of India, the secure survival of which is the main objective of Project Tiger, an Indian wildlife protection initiative.

  • Walk in Jim Corbett’s footsteps! Explore the life and stories around the hunter turned conservationist.
  • Learn about the Corbett Gram Vikas Samiti, whose mission is Conservation of natural resources and improvement in socio-economic and cultural status of vulnerable communities.
  • Interact with local community and how they are involved in the conservation process, their music and culture.
  • Explore the Corbett reserve, bird watching in the forest, stay in rustic home stays, explore Dense Saal and Teak forests, winding Boar River, Spotted Deers, Sambhar Deers, Barking Deers, Elephants, Tigers, Leopards, pythons, birds, Kumaon foothills is all that and more.
 

Program Activities

  • Visit to Jim Corbett Heritage Trail including Jim Corbett Museum
  • Wildlife Movie Show
  • Visit to the ruins of Historical Iron Foundry, marvelous example of civil engineering The Boar Canal, Corbett’s Jungle Studio and Water Mill.
  • Trek to famous Corbett Fall in nearby forest and Bird Watching
  • Folk Music and interaction with village community on Cleaning Campaign/Plantation.
  • Visit to Boar Canal
  • Gypsy safari to Corbett Tiger Reserve. Followed by adventure activities (rappelling, slithering and Flying Fox) at Garjia Bridge.
  • Visit to Nature trail (Brahm Booboo Trail) to enjoy bird watching, wild animals sighting, study of various medicinal plants.
  • Lakes visit i.e. Sarita Taal, Khurpa Taal and Nainital with packed lunch.

About the Facilitator

Arun Agnihotri founded The Playhouse that has gained recognition not only in India but also at the International level.

He headed the Corbett GSN for a few years and spread headed the organization during its initial years. A nature lover, outdoor enthusiast and a believer in alternate education, he is a hit with children and believes in giving them a holistic experience.
