Direct and Act in a Street Play

Performance art is a career choice for creative and passionate individuals. This is a medium of expression uses tools like theater, music, fine art, body movement and many other natural forms.
In this Pathfinderlearners explore performance art as a medium to communicate a socially relevant message through a street play. Practicing effective nuances of story telling, acting, peer and crowd management, learners create, direct and conduct a street play on a cause they stand for.
One is encouraged to think beyond barriers, towards global social impact and ‘being’ the change.

Learning objectives:

   • The art of acting and story-telling w/o boundaries
   • Scripting and directing a play
   • People management – assigning roles and responsibilities
   • Social awareness, addressing public gatherings

Program Activities

  • Introduction to Performance Art as a career
  • The journey of Street Plays
  • Identifying social causes and ideating messages
  • Story-making and scripting – dialogue
  • “I, Director” – Physiology and role assignment
  • Working as a team – rehearsals, props, message
  • Mock Play – Conduct the play in a controlled environment
  • Street Play – Conduct the play in a public space
  • Optional – Street Play session with seasoned performer
